Jill Kelly, PhD, a former college professor of languages and writing, has worked for the last 16 years as a freelance editor, proof-reader, and research writer out of her office in Portland, Oregon. The majority of her editing and rewriting clients are businesses, professionals and academics, although she also edits pre-publication manuscripts in memoir, fiction and non-fiction. Her research writing clients are in business, marketing, alternative medicine and the nutritional supplement industry.
She teaches writing for clear communication for business and health professionals, both for native and non-native speakers. For 13 years, she was on the faculty of the Oregon Graduate Institute in the department of Management in Science & Technology and has done writing workshops for Lockheed Martin and Sun Microsystems as well as writing classes for doctoral candidates at the OHSU School of Nursing and George Fox University. She is the former editor of the Portland monthly magazine The Woman’s Journal and was the long-time copy editor of the prestigious Journal of Manual and Manipulative Therapy.
